The Dangers in My Heart manga spinoff announced for July 2025

The Dangers in My Heart Spinoff Manga Set to Debut on July 22, 2025

Mark your calendars! A brand-new spinoff manga titled Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu Love Comedy ga Hajimaranai is arriving on July 22, 2025. It will center around Kana, the older sister of Kyotaro from the beloved series The Dangers in My Heart.

What is This Spinoff About?

Fans of The Dangers in My Heart (also known as Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu) were in for a surprise on June 6, 2025, when the official X (formerly Twitter) account revealed the launch of a new spinoff series.

Titled Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu Love Comedy ga Hajimaranai, the upcoming manga will shift the spotlight from Kyotaro Ichikawa and Anna Yamada to Kyotaro’s sister, Kana — a character fans have been curious about for a while.

Who’s Behind the Spinoff?

The spinoff will be published on Akita Shoten’s Champion Cross manga platform and is being illustrated by Haika Nanasaka, a fresh name in the manga scene. However, fans of the original series can rest easy — the entire project is supervised by Norio Sakurai, the original creator of The Dangers in My Heart.

This blend of new talent and Sakurai’s guidance suggests the spinoff will stay true to the original’s charm while introducing fresh storytelling vibes.

A Quick Recap of the Original Series

Just in case you need a refresher:

“Ichikawa Kyotaro, a boy barely clinging to the bottom rung of his school’s social ladder, secretly believes he’s the tortured lead in some psychological thriller…”

This is how Seven Seas Entertainment, the English license holder, describes the story. But as fans know, the series cleverly evolves into a wholesome, often hilarious love story between Kyotaro and Anna — one that’s resonated with readers since its debut in March 2018.

Originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Champion, the manga moved to Champion Cross in April 2018. After a few platform changes, it now lives on Manga Cross, where the spinoff will also premiere.

With 12 volumes already published in Japan (as of June 2024) and the anime adaptation airing in April 2023, it’s safe to say this series has built a passionate and loyal fanbase.

Why Fans Should Be Excited

While Kyotaro and Anna’s story continues to bloom, this spinoff offers a fresh lens into the Ichikawa family, starting with Kana. This shift in perspective opens up a world of romantic-comedy possibilities in the same quirky universe fans love.

Also, with Nanasaka’s art and Sakurai’s supervision, the series could serve as a great starting point for new readers — or as an exciting side story for long-time fans.
