Zenless Zone Zero is an upcoming game from Chinese company miHoYo. It is an exciting RPG game that focuses on hack-and-slash style of gameplay as well as QTE mechanics.
While some players unfamiliar with the title may look at the game as just another action game, there is a lot of depth to be discovered in Zenless Zone Zero, primarily with the wide range of characters available for play.
Zenless Zone Zero currently has fifteen different characters, known as Agents, available to comprise your three-man team as you journey across the Hollows and advance the story.
Each character is unique with several attributes and characteristics that can give your team a specific advantage if they are a member of your current party.
Of course, it will all depend on your play style and how well your party members can mesh well with each other.
Here’s a rundown of the 15 characters currently available for play in Zenless Zone Zero. But first, we start with a brief explanation of some of the characteristics that make each of these fighters unique.

Agent Characteristics
Each Agent in Zenless Zone Zero is unique in one way or another. Here are the characteristics that each character possesses. The combination of these attributes will affect each Agent’s gameplay style as well as their general role in the team.
Rarity
Rarity, or Rank, for Agents in Zenless Zone Zero can either be A or S. S characters are generally more powerful than A characters, although how you use them along with other members in your party still play a huge factor.
S characters are also more difficult to acquire in the game than A characters, requiring either luck or acquisition through Limited-Time Events and other special circumstances.
Hit Type
In Zenless Zone Zero, hit type is basically the way that your Agent can attack. Each hit type has their own pros and cons, and having a party member that can exploit these advantages depending on the situation is critical to breeze through the game.
The different hit types include:
- Slash – Sword or knife attacks. Quick Attacks. Strong against Ethereal-type enemies.
- Strike – Melee or blunt attacks. Typically slow but powerful attacks. Strong against Mechanical-type enemies.
- Pierce – Ranged or drilled attacks. Fast attacks. Strong against Humanoid-type enemies.
Role
Roles, or specialties, are the basic and recommended responsibilities of each Agent in your team. Roles are based on their base stats and skills, but you can play them in pretty much any role.
Roles in Zenless Zone Zero include:
- Attack – serve as your main damage or DPS characters
- Stun – used for sunning and crowd control
- Anomaly – used for debuffing and dealing negative effects to enemies
- Support – provides buffs to your party such as healing or increased damage and attack speed
Faction
Each character in Zenless Zone Zero will also belong to one Faction, which pertains to the group that, story-wise, they belong to.
Aside from driving the story of the characters and the game, bonus abilities may also be triggered if your party is made up of certain Factions. This can also apply if you have party members with the same Attribute, as well.
Attribute
Attributes are similar to elements in other games. Each character has a specific attribute that makes them either strong or weak against certain enemies. They can also trigger different effects once enough of their Attribute Anomaly is accumulated.
These attributes are:
- Fire – can cause Burn which deals continuous Fire damage and can also cause immobility
- Ice – can cause Freeze or Frostbite which debuffs enemies and deal additional Ice Damage
- Electric – can cause Shock which can interrupt actions, immobilize robots, and cause additional Electric damage
- Physical – can cause Assault and Armor Break which allows players to deal more Physical Damage
- Ether – can cause Corruption which can interrupt enemies and cause extra Ether damage
Stats
Stats are the main attributes that an Agent possesses. These stats determine how powerful they are offensively or defensively, as well as determine their intended role in the party.
Stats can be increased by levelling up, character ascensions, upgrading, and by equipping gear or weapons. Depending on the method, stat boosts can either be permanent or temporary.
Stats that are visible within the game include:
- HP
- Attack
- Defense
- ImpactÂ
- Crit Rate
- Crit Damage
- Pen Ratio
- Energy Regen
- Attribute Mastery
Skills
Aside from the above mentioned traits, Agents can also vary when it comes to their skills. Skills include the way that they perform basic attacks, dodge abilities, special skills and supers, and talents.
Other special skills that characters can have include assist skills, passives, chain attacks, and others. Knowing how to use these skills properly, in coordination with other members of your team is necessary to survive especially during the latter stages of the game.
